Shopian:Two civilians abducted by suspected militants from a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district were released late Saturday evening.
A police official said that Hakib Javed Ganie of Meemender and Ishfaq Ahmad of Pudsoo who were abducted by suspected militants on Saturday evening have been set free.
Ganie and Ahmad were abducted by suspected militants around 4:30 pm from Meemender village on the outskirts of Shopian town.
They have been severely thrashed before their release, added the official.
The duo was among five civilians abducted by suspected during two separate incidents in the district.
Three civilians were abducted from a bakery early morning in Saidpora Payeen while two more were kidnapped in Meemendar village late evening.
One among the three, identified as Huzaif Ashraf, abducted from the bakery was killed by his captors.
